I just bought enough of Bernat's Handicrafter Cotton yarn in Hunter here to make a skirt like this, only minus the flames. And I bought the needles needed for the pattern as well, since I didn't have them in that size. All of this (17 skeins of yarn, by the estimation for what I'd need for the skirt) for less than $30, including shipping! That's cheap!

Another pattern at knitty.com that I want to try is the Mariposa tank. It looks so awesome! ^_^ I'd definately buy the Lion Microspun for that one, and while it suggests using straight needles, I could very well use the same circular needles as I'd need for the skirt. Fun fun fun!

Now, if only I could figure out something to knit in the meantime with my balls of recycled silk yarn, or even the two balls of Lion Wool in Sage that I had originally planned to make a skirt with... (buying more yarn as needed, of course)

hey, if you do manage to knit clothes, you've got more patience than me. ¬_¬ Tried a jumper once, did the sleeves and started on the main body-bit but gave up after about an inch, it took so long to do a single row. ^_^;;

i absolutely love that you call sweaters jumpers. For a moment there, I thought.. "wow, they make patterns for those?" Because this is what I was thinking:

Now, in England that's a dress. *grins teasingly* It would be fun if you could knit 'em, and I think you probably could if you put your mind to it, but we have to settle for material patterns instead. X)

Ah, but when you wear it over a shirt, it's no longer a sundress, but a jumper here in the states. I should know. It was part of my school uniform in elementary school.

LOL I'm afraid that's what's gonna happen to me... but then again, I know that as I knit a piece, I get faster the more I work on it. So after a while, between the decreases on the skirt and the natural speeding up, I'll just whiz through the rows.

Wish I could do that. I just got horribly bored by the time I was half-way through the first row; I wish you better luck and much more perseverance! ^_^;;

Knitting during lecture helps. 'Cause then you're not always focused on the knitting, but also on taking notes. ^_^ Maybe give it another shot?
