Okay, computer-wise... There's something wrong/cracked/whatever with the power for my laptop. Something about the circuit it flows through in the laptop itself. I will be taking it in soon to get it fixed (it should still be under warranty), but I've figured out a way to use it if I'm careful. It's enough to get this knocked out!

Wednesday, 6/1

So, I left home at about 8:30AM. The drive was nice, and I pulled into the first rest stop on I-5 as planned (about an hour and a half in to the drive), and reached for my phone for my first check-in. Only to find my phone was not in my purse. Oops. Scraped together enough change for a call on the pay-phone to let my mom know what had happened.

Turns out Mom had accidentally grabbed it that morning thinking it was her backup phone. To be fair, the phones are identical and it was charging where Dad normally charges her phones. When I didn't see it on the table in the morning, I completely forgot about it.

Three hours later I left home again, this time making sure I had my phone. lol Stopped to top up the next city down 101 (I was taking 101 to 152 over to I-5) and get lunch. The rest of the drive went fine and it was a bit after 5 when I got to Pasadena. :) Met up with Nagi, who was the one who reserved the room I was staying in. Hung out in the lobby on the computer for a while before I left to pick up [livejournal.com profile] kenyastarflight from the airport (and fill up and get dinner at the same time). Not much left after that but to sleep. :)

Okay, items for the day: I had bought a pair of earrings from [livejournal.com profile] poptartodoom that arrived Tuesday. And I received another pair from Kenya as her part of our pay-it-forward craft exchange, plus she gave me a little Matrix pin as an early birthday present. Whee! They're some of the items in this pic. I wore all three items at some point over the weekend. :)

Thursday 6/2

Slept in late, whoo! Eventually went out to the Paseo Colorado mall that was across from the convention center. Walked around, had lunch. The only pictures I got of it was the water feature at one end:

Went back to the hotel afterwards and dragged Kenya out to the pool for a swim. :) Only bad part was that I got sunburned even though I put on SPF 70 sunblock (that was labelled waterproof!) before I went exploring, and again before I went swimming. :( Sunburns are not fun.

After swimming was meeting up at the Islands restaurant for [livejournal.com profile] femme4jack's birthday! That was a ton of fun.

Right to left: [livejournal.com profile] lady_katana4544, [livejournal.com profile] autumnconstance, [livejournal.com profile] mmouse15, [livejournal.com profile] mininise28 (hidden), [livejournal.com profile] mdnytryder, me, [livejournal.com profile] femme4jack, [livejournal.com profile] naggingfishwife, [livejournal.com profile] tainry, [livejournal.com profile] twilit_wanderer, and [livejournal.com profile] okami_myrrhibis behind the camera.

Got a few necklaces at the dinner. :) Two bottlecap necklaces from Hill (Fishwife), and one pearl necklace as a reverse birthday gift from Femme.

We kinda got split up on our way back for registration, but here's some of us:

Okay, just match up names and faces from the dinner pic. lol The one not in the dinner pic is Okami. And that skirt I'm wearing? Made it myself! :D No pattern, even!

And we saw Ratchet and Bumblebee parked across from the convention center, where they were all weekend.

They both played sound clips, and Ratchet's light bar actually lit up.

Well, I was in the 8 o'clock registration group, so I hung out with Femme, Tainry, and Autumn while we waited. We ended up sailing past some of the ones in the 7 o'clock line (Kenya included) because we were under last names in the Q-Z groups!. I decided not to get any of the con exclusive toys, so I skipped that line and went and hung out with [livejournal.com profile] eerian_sadow. Met a bunch of other people while I was with her, including [livejournal.com profile] wicked3659, [livejournal.com profile] ante_luce, and [livejournal.com profile] primusatemyleg. Eventually went to crash in bed. lol

Haul for the day: Necklaces and the pin that came with my registration package. Con t-shirt. Certificate, comic, magnets. Fisitron. And of course the Stunticons with their cool box.

Friday 6/3 MY BIRTHDAY!!! :D :D :D :D Finally old enough to rent a car. *nodnod*

Started off the morning by seeing a filmfest with a whole bunch of people. Some of us outside before the panel:

Left to right: Me, Mouse, Eerian, and [livejournal.com profile] wingzbot. And the skirt I made for the con! It's being held up on the other side by the Matrix pin.

[livejournal.com profile] antepathy brought her lovely Blackout plushie that she made. (Eee! Mixed media, knit and crochet and otherstuffs!)

I admit, I knit for most of the filmfest. Or tried to. I was doing a short row heel with Japanese short rows, and I forgot my locking stitch markers in my room. D'oh. I ended up stuffing it in my bag after two failed attempts. While I may like the look of Japanese short rows better, wrap-and-turn short rows are much easier to do without stitch markers!

There was a pretty good number of decent videos. I was impressed, and it made voting hard. My favorites were Trampformers (it was sepia-colored silent film, using the Bumblebee and Ratchet vehicles I have pictures of up there) and "Autobot TV" have to be two of my favorites. Another film won, though.

After the filmfest, there were plenty of cosplayers out!

[livejournal.com profile] ravynfyre as Ultra Magnus, holding someone's nekkid!Magnus plushie.

Ultra Magnus vs. Kicker! Kicker is Keiko, who happened to also be one of my roomies! It was neat seeing her put the finishing touches on the costume last-minute in the room.

Also went to lunch with Eerian across the street. :)

So then I got in line with Kenya for the David Kaye autograph session. We missed out on the Stunticon script reading panel. :( And Jack Angel was sick, so he couldn't be there all weekend. :( :( However, I did get two autographs from Kaye. One on a rubber duckie (Go Beast Wars!) and one on the inside of the bag I made with leftover fabric, including TFA fabric as the lining. And I also got a card autographed by Abby Collins (Chris Latta's daughter) for Eerian. Apparently she did a wonderful job as Minerva in the script reading.

After that I cruised the dealer room for a bit. Ended up getting two prints for signing later on in the weekend. Then I went to the [livejournal.com profile] tf_speedwriting meet-up across the street. None of the prompts inspired me, so I mostly just surfed online.

Eventually I went back to the room to get changed for Casino Night. I got in line for it with my roomies, but quickly ended up separated from them. Found a bunch of others, though!

Also got a picture of Ratchet! :D He's so awesome, and [livejournal.com profile] mininise28 did an amazing job with him and his runty twin that she entered in the 3D art contest.

We mostly just sat around chatting instead of playing casino games, and many of us called it a (relatively) early night.

Day's Haul: Two prints. One of Springer, one of Tracks. Plus the duckie autograph and the autograph on my bag. :D

And that's it for Pt 1! I'll hopefully get Pt 2 up tomorrow. In the meantime, I have more pictures up in my album, including some from these three days that didn't end up in the post.

I'm not sure I'm actually in the photo you say I'm in, though ;) I was, at that moment, helping mdnytryder find a parking space. LOL

You sure? The photo I say you're in is the one at the table, and you're sitting right next to me. ;)

Ok...so strange. That photo didn't show up for me the first time I looked. It seemed like the names were referring to the other group shot.

*confuzzled femme is confused* It must be time for me to recharge.

*hugs* That can throw you off. And I'm in need of recharge myself, have a full day of work tomorrow. And my sub for last weekend seems to have not done much of what needed to be done. *sigh*

I was looking through your album and....are you really shorter than [livejournal.com profile] wicked3659?!?!?! (The TFA Prowl cosplay). Y'all are some teeny people! (And I love that white and black dress with the red ribbon you wore!)

/full of random irrelevance and coffee, can ya tell?
