Just 'cause I wanted to...
Oct. 26th, 2005 07:17 pmI'm making a list of the patterns I like from my copy of the magazine Creative Knitting.
Listed in order presented in the magazine, not by preference.
1. Harmonizing Trio. I wouldn't make the pullover, though. Like the tank top and the skirt.
2. It's All About Shine. Pretty colors! Shiny! Would make it longer if I knit it, but that's an easy fix.
3. Romp in the Woods. Dunno why, but I find it pretty. Could change the "collar" into a hood for a neat hoodie! ^_^
4. Basket Weave Bliss. My first reaction was "eeww!!" to this sweater, but... It grew on me. It's the basket weaving design. Would change up the colors though... The ones they used are painful on the eye.
5. Cape in Scarlet. Always wanted a cape similar to this. Though in black. Longer, if I could make it that way. Heck, I'll most likely use the diagram from this, make it so it's nigh-floor length on me, and sew one with black fabric.
6. "The Bomb" in Stripes. Again, would probably turn this into a hoodie. What? It's a simple alteration! Just knit the collar really bit, then fold the live stitches in half and do a three-needle bind off (or graft together) and voila! Hoodie! ...Colors are horrible here, though. Would choose some different colorway. Like how the stripes are virticle, though. Very flattering on most bodytypes (as opposed to the standard horizontal for knitting which are horrible).
And that's the patterns I like for this edition of the mag.
Now for WTS patters:
1. Harmonizing Trio. Just pointing out the pullover here. WTS is up with that pullover?!
2. Destry's and Daisy's Ponchos. Yes, these are meant as a set. Yes, they are gaudy and horrible. They're even on the cover! >_@
3. Cool, Cool Poncho. Okay, who ate the muppet and then threw it up all over her?
Then there were lots of "blah" patterns that I didn't like that someone else probably does and didn't warrent a WTS?.
Oh? Wanna hear about articles? lol There were two articles I enjoyed.
1. Alpaca:Fiber of the Gods & Poor Man's Cashmere. Wow! So much fun! I have some alpaca fiber (one skein of pure alpaca yarn and one LARGE hank of a mix including alapaca) and while I have yet to knit with them, I can't wait to! I love them both so much! So this article gave me some info on the properties of the yarn, its history, and the WHYS of its behavior. ^_^
2. In the Know-Plus Size with Pizzazz. While I'm not "plus size" in the range of the target audience of this article, I'm still on the heavy size, plus most of the information here is general enough to be good for helping ANYONE figure out what looks best on their bodysize.
Overall, I'm actually happy that I subscribed now. Was worried that I'd hate the magazine after I placed the order. lol
Oh, Em? Want me to bring this mag over on Saturday?
And just cause I have to--CUTE!

Date: 2005-10-27 11:21 am (UTC)I should really post a picture of a poncho my mum made me, then - purple and so fuzzy it's unbelievable. ^_^ I like this, but then I love the colours and anything furry generally gets brownie points. ;)
